The Seven Days of Christmas - Day Six

Bellies full yet? As the host, you may be getting a tad tired. Not to worry. Here's what you do for a finale. Today I have an Apple Pie Clafoutis for you. Subtly spiced, not too sweet and you can put it in the oven right before you sit down to dinner. This recipe will serve eight people.

Plan for a friend or two to help you clear the table. It's okay. Everyone wants to help. Have all of your dessert plates and forks or spoons loaded on a tray. Do this before guests arrive. Clear a spot on your counter for serving. You'll also need a rack or hot pad to set the dessert pan on. The clafoutis is served warm, so you'll need to plan the timing. Here's the recipe.
Just out of the oven. This is when you dust it with powdered sugar.

Let's back up just a bit. When the clafoutis comes out of the oven, it can rest for ten to fifteen minutes. This is enough time to clear the table. Once that's done, you can begin serving your finale. With each serving, dust the top with powdered sugar and (if you have it) place a dollop of lightly sweetened whipped cream on top. That's it. By the way, whipped topping or the stuff from a can is not the same thing.

Another finale option will post tomorrow. It's a seasonal fruit and cheese board (or platter).
